Coffs Coast Jeepers

Coffs Coast Jeepers Inc. was founded in February 2004 and currently has approximately 20 active Jeepers. We are made up of people of all ages who have a sense of proud ownership of Jeeps and a passion for 4-wheel drive adventure.

The Club is restricted to Jeep owners. However, owners of other 4WD vehicles may join Club trips or activities at the invitation of a Club Member.

Coffs Coast Jeepers is a non-profit organisation formed to promote the ownership, appreciation and appropriate use of Jeep vehicles. The Club is intended to provide an opportunity for owners and drivers of Jeep vehicles to participate in four-wheel drive associated activities and social events with like minded enthusiasts. We aim to do this in a safe manner, to learn and understand more about the capabilities of our vehicles, to improve and appreciate our driving abilities and to provide regular social outings.

The Club is affiliated with the NSW 4WD Association and carries appropriate Public Liability and other insurances.

The Club meets monthly at 7pm. The location is varied and is usually preceeded by dinner. Family members are most welcome to attend. Notification of the venue is usually by SMS txt. A day trip is normally organised for the following Sunday.

Whilst on outings the Club stresses safety at all times. Members participating on trips should ensure their vehicle:
· is mechanically sound;
· has tyres in good condition with adequate tread for the trip conditions;
· carries recovery gear, including: snatch strap and rated D shackles;
· carries sufficient water and food for the planned trip; and
· is equipped with a UHF radio or a hand held UHF radio is carried.

UHF Channel 18 or 22 is used to communicate with each other whilst on Club outings.

Trip or Club Run Information

Trip Classification
The following trip classifications are a general guide to members who wish to attend or run a Club Trip. Members and their guests must ensure that they and their vehicle are capable of handling the type of trip designated. Note: Most trips will have sections that are rated differently.
Placid
A trip with little or no four wheel or off-road driving. It will normally involve an easy to get to camp site or picnic area on bush or gravel tracks.
Easy
A four wheel drive trip where low range will be engaged, but it is highly unlikely that any recovery will be necessary.
Moderate
A trip where sections will require careful driving to negotiate the track and in some circumstances, recovery may be necessary. Members’ vehicles must be equipped with front and rear recovery points and should carry at a minimum a snatch strap and an appropriately rated D shackle (preferably 2).
Hard
A difficult trip where recovery (snatching, winching or towing) is more likely to be required. Members vehicles must be equipped with front and rear recovery points and should carry at a minimum: a snatch strap and D shackle (preferably 2); and preferably a winch. The Trip Leader has the discretion to refuse entry to any vehicle believed to be unsuitable or member with insufficient experience for the trip.
Trip Record
Trip Leaders will normally complete and report on the Trip. This provides details on the trip departure location, planned route, trip classification, participant sign-on and sign-off and final destination. Members are required to cooperate with the Trip Leader by ensuring they sign on prior to trip departure and sign off at the conclusion of the trip. Members are also required to attend and listen to the Trip Leader’s briefing and follow the Trip Leader’s instructions throughout the trip.
